Fabrica X is a vibrant hub dedicated to material innovation, sustainability, and storytelling. When designing its café, it was essential that these values be seamlessly integrated into the space, creating an experience as innovative as the showroom it inhabits.
Our design posed a question: what if the café furniture could be crafted from the waste of coffee shops? Partnering with Kava, we turned coffee grounds into bespoke furniture, giving counters and surfaces a tactile, warm quality that reflects both the material’s origins and its transformation into something new. In keeping with Fabrica X’s dynamic and ever-evolving nature, the café is designed to adapt. Inspired by the mechanism of a bicycle chain, the café can be reconfigured to suit various uses - from daytime coffee service to a lively evening event bar. Sliding tambour screens enhance this versatility, sliding around to public-facing areas.
