home in every hue
Commissioned by the London Festival of Architecture and Architecture LGBT+ for London Pride 2024 sponsored by Brookfield Properties and Multiplex.
'Home in every Hue' celebrates the diversity and spectrum of identity, and highlights the importance of shelter and housing for all within our towns and cities. Home should be a safe space for everyone, but unfortunately for many it is still not. In the UK 24% of homeless young people identify as LGBTQ+. The design by andre kong studio envisions a rainbow canopy moving along the parade, changing shape and providing shade, followed by handheld placards in the progress colours. The draping fabrics span between house-shaped structures made from reclaimed timber palettes and scaffold boards from construction sites. The parade on Saturday 29th June 2024 saw around 500 groups made up from LGBT+ Community Groups, LGBT+ businesses, and partners, forming together to make a total over 32,000 participants. Support and donate to AKT and Microrainbow who do incredible work supporting LGBTQ+ youth homelessness and refugees. Final photography: Luke O'Donovan |
